(A P) - It's been alm ost three m o n th s sin c e M ic h a e l Jackson's shocking death, and w hile Los A ngeles police are close to w rapping up their in v e stig a tio n , the d e c isio n on w h e th e r to b rin g c r im in a l charges is at least w eeks and perhaps m onths away, legal ex perts say. Last m onth the Los A ngeles County coroner ruled Jackson's June 25 death a homicide caused prim arily by the pow erful anes thetic propofol in com bination w ith the sedative lorazepam . B oth w ere a d m in is te r e d in Jackson's m ansion by his per sonal p h y sician , Dr. C o n rad Murray. M urray is the target o f w hat police term a m anslaughter in vestigation but the probe is far broader, encom passing a half- dozen doctors who treated Jack- son over the years. The coroner's finding o f ho micide, or death at the hands of another, does not autom atically mean a crime was committed. To bring a m anslaughter charge, p ro secu to rs m ust show there was a reckless action that cre ated a risk o f death or great b o d ily injury. If a d o c to r is aware o f the risk, there m ight also be an issue of w hether the patient know s that risk and d e cided to take it.
